Why worship at CTV?

Through the Divine Service (often referred to as the Worship Service) at Christ the Vine Lutheran, we receive God's good gifts of forgiveness and salvation. The Divine Service (or "worship") is centered around the means of grace (the gospel in Word and Sacrament). God promises to bless us through these gifts. Every aspect of the service at CTV is centered around the Word of God and the message of Christ crucified for our sins.

The service also includes an opportunity to praise our loving God for His grace and love, hear His word, and bring our requests to Him in prayer.

The service also has a communal nature to it. Church is a place for God's people to gather to proclaim the gospel to one another through spoken word, psalms, and hymns, as well as encourage one another in their walk of faith.

What is worship like at CTV?

We are a liturgical church, which means that every part of our service points you to Christ. Every aspect of our service is intentionally structured to proclaim the truth of God's Word and the forgiveness of sins. Liturgical worship enables God's people to participate and proclaim the gospel to one another. Liturgical worship is not just about the pastor, but the gathering of God's people.

A liturgical worship service will follow a similar order each week. We will sing a couple of hymns, confess our sins before God, receive the forgiveness of sins, read Scripture, listen to a sermon that expands upon a portion of Scripture, and pray. Every other week, we celebrate the Lord's Supper.

If you would like to watch a service before you come in person, you can find our recorded services here.

"I rejoiced with those who said to me,

'Let us go to the house of the Lord.'"
